Identification of Cockroaches

The two of the most prolific cockroach species we regularly come across in and around Glasgow and in Scotland are German and Oriental cockroaches, especially German cockroaches.

Please follow links to our pest identification page to help you identify Oriental cockroach and German cockroach, plus you can read more about both the cockroach species on a page dedicated to them on this website.

Repeat treatments to eradicate infestations of cockroaches:

To eradicate moderate to severe cockroach infestations where breeding (nymphs are present) has already occurred, repeat treatments will be most likely needed. A 10% discount is available for repeat treatments. Insect monitors to evaluate the progress of cockroach elimination will be provided without any additional charge after the 2nd treatment to be checked and maintained on the next visits if you book a set of 4 treatments and pay for them at the beginning of the works on completion of the 1st of 4 treatments. Otherwise, insect and cockroach monitors are available to purchase for £3 per each from the attending technician. The standard monitor has a discreetly-looking plastic case of black colour with a pre-baited sticky pad inside.

How to Prepare Before and What to Do After Cockroach Treatment

For health & safety reasons, no children and pets are allowed in the property to-be-treated during the administering of an insecticidal treatment. This takes approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour. We recommend pulling furniture away from the walls by 1ft that would allow our technician for better access when spraying insecticide.

Vacuuming or sweeping and mopping the edges of the floor before each treatment is recommended for your convenience because you will be advised not to do so for 2 - 3 weeks after each treatment.

Cockroach Control & Eradication

Cockroaches are some of the toughest urban insect pests to control and eradicate. We administer highly-effective treatments that combine the safe use of a range of professional-grade insecticides dispensed in different formulations such as a coarse insecticidal spray, gel bait, fog and dust.

Treatment to Control German Cockroaches

  • Residual liquid insecticide is applied as a coarse spray along edges of the floor as (invisible and odourless when dry) bands as well as onto the walls at various heights because German cockroaches are good climbers.

  • Dust (powder) formulation insecticide with a long residual life into cavities and voids, usually in the kitchen. bathroom or meter cupboard.

  • Edible cockroach gel bait (with delayed effect) is deployed so as cockroaches that have consumed it are allowed time to retreat to their usual harbourages where they die and are consumed by their peers, creating a so-called domino effect.

For eradication of German cockroaches, we recommend 3 to 4 treatments, administered in 2 to 3 weeks intervals between them.

Treatment to Control Oriental Cockroaches

  • Residual liquid insecticide is applied with a compression sprayer as a coarse (invisible and odourless when dry) band along the edges of the floor in all internal areas of the infested property on and near the floor level.

  • Dust (powder) formulation insecticide with a long residual life into cavities and voids, usually in the kitchen.

  • Edible cockroach gel bait (with delayed effect) is dispensed so as cockroaches that have consumed it are allowed time to retreat to their usual harbourages where they die and are consumed by their peers, creating a so-called domino effect. Cockroach gels are very useful in controlling where cockroaches are suspected to migrate between neighbouring dwellings or within a tenement building comprising several apartments and communal areas.

For eradication of Oriental cockroaches, we recommend 4 to 6 treatments, administered in 4 weeks intervals between them.
